Does your living room look like a cluttered mess?

8 Tips on How to Organize Your Living Room

We all know that living rooms are a place for gathering family and friends, but they can also be a cluttered mess of shoes, toys, and clothes. It’s easy to organize your living room with these tips! In this blog post we’ll go over 8 steps on how you can clean up your cluttered living room in no time at all!

Pickup piles

Start by picking up living room items from the floor. Put them into piles: one pile is for trash or things that need to be thrown out; another, smaller pile contains what you’ll keep and can be put away immediately while still being quite useful in your everyday life (think of this as an “in-between” category). Finally there’s a third stack – when we’re feeling really motivated–which consists only donated items!

Create zones

Every corner of your room should have a specific purpose. I’ve found that it’s helpful to create “zones” in each side and make sure there are no wasted spaces or objects taking up valuable real estate on shelves, coffee tables etc… One zone could be for books while another may contain all shoes and a third for all toys.

Clear Coffee Table

Keep the top of your coffee table clear. A clean surface makes everything look better, and it gives you somewhere to put drinks or snacks when guests come over!

Put drinks snacks safe place to put down during visit. Keep surfaces free of clutter! Make sure all your books are neatly stacked on shelves, not spread out across the floor. This will make it easier for you and guests to find what they’re looking for.

Let them know that this is not just a place where people leave things on floor or table. You need to be able to walk around it without tripping over something unwanted. They will value an organized living room.

Get Creative

Get creative with storage. You can organize your living room by putting items in boxes or bags and hiding them under the couch, you could use baskets to store smaller toys like Legos, you could even buy a bookcase to neatly display books!

If you look around you will notice that you have a lot of things in your living room, so get creative to organize all these items.

There are many different ways that you can organize your living room depending on what works for your family, so try out different ideas and see what works for you!

Designate a place

Designate a place for everything. This is especially important if you have multiple children who often forget where they put things! Make sure there are specific places to store toys, books, etc., and make them easy-to-reach spots that are out of the way but still visible so your kids will remember where to put their stuff back after using it!

If everything in your living room is out and displayed, it can be overwhelming to guests! Clear the coffee table off before they arrive so that you don’t have to deal with a mess when there’s company over.

Decorate with flowers

Decorate with plants or flowers. There’s something about adding a touch of greenery that makes any living room especially a small living room more inviting!

Decorate with flowers in the living room gives the room instant freshness and charm or opt for plants/flowers in vases if you don’t have the time or patience to take care of them you can always opt for artificial flowers that will last much longer.

Decorating your coffee table

When it comes to decorating your coffee table, try and make sure everything is balanced. For example: don’t put a small vase of flowers on the far right and then pile all your magazines in front of that; instead, organize them by size or color so they look neat!

Another tip is to organize your coffee table by placing a tray on top of it. You can use that tray as a catchall for remotes, glasses or even just decorate the edge with some pretty stones!

Keep in mind putting plants and flowers on your coffee table will require you dust them off every now and again so they don’t look dusty, but the end result will be worth it.

Move furniture

Move furniture around. Rearranging your living room furniture can give completely different looks, so it’s fun to switch things up every once in a while! .

If you can organize your living room in a way that everything has its own specific spot, it will be much easier to keep the area clean and clutter-free. This is great for children because they’ll know exactly where their things go!
